ELPH cameras are designed to be very simple and user friendly
Here's the spare Canon battery pack, but if you don't want to spend $50, I'd highly recommend the Green Extreme brand battery for $19.95
It's very comparable in performance
I was also looking at the power shot sx610 but that seemed a little large for me

They both come with the Canon warranty as well
So you always have the option of contacting Canon for info/repairs as well

There is no difference if you purchase between one or the other. You can checkout as a guest at Adorama and I can verify that your order went through ok if you purchase from Adorama while the checkout window is open
If you're getting a spare battery, they do not sell the Green Extreme brand over at Amazon

That bundle actually includes the Green Extreme spare battery! :-) Plus a camera case, memory card, cleaning kit, card reader and software for editing and organizing photos
right now I use a sans disk 8gb memory card...would that be okay to use in this camera
it works with my computer...I am afraid to use different ones

Yes, it would be ok. But the bundle also includes a 32GB card that would hold more photos/video
not sure if my computer can handle that...

a friend got a 32gb and said she couldn't download the photos

It depends on the memory and condition of the camera, but if you're more comfortable using your current card, that's completely fine
It will work just fine in the new camera
