now we do have some 12' ones but if anything you would want a few extra feet..

a hdmi is a video cable wheras a mini usb is a data and charging cable

I have a jvc hand held cam corder that i 10 years old and about 4 times the size as this one. It has a 450 zoom lense on it. Will the zoom be as lone in distance as my old cam corder?

optical zoom is 32 and up to 1140 digital so yes
you can zoom in over twice as much
So the zoom on this camera is better than my old one.

Good i have been concerned about that. We just got back off of a three week trip driving up the north east us and canada. And i have got some great movies with my old canera.so this camera is alot better than my old camera?

from the information you provided me.. I would say yes
you should be able to record stuff in higher quality.. and display it in higher quality as well
you will also benefit from better optical and digital zoom features
I am going to go ahead and order this one. What about a mfg. Warrenty?

you can get extended coverage if you like as well
