Jeff H.
Hello, welcome to Adorama how are you today? My name is Jeff, how can I assist you?
Hi Jeff my name is Tony. I want to start making Youtube videos, but I am on a tight budget, i would definitely consider "Open Box" or even "Refurbished" can you help me look for something? My Price Range would be between $100 - $550
Jeff H.
Are you looking for a DSLR or would a regular camcorder do to create your YouTube videos?
DSLR would give me more versatility with Lenses, so i would go with that option
Jeff H.
That will really cut into the price because the bodies are expensive as well the lenses. You could do more with a camcorder instead, just say, but I will check to see what is available
Maybe after you check, you could show me a camcorder also. I am new to this so I am definitely open minded
Jeff H.
This is what I was referring to, it is a camcorder that I already had pulled up.
i am checking it now
Jeff H.
I think you will find something like this will work very well for your YouTube videos.
the only concern would be if I were to zoom, I heard image quality degrades with this type of camcorders?
Jeff H.
That is not true unless you are using digital zoom instead of optical zoom. I use them to create YouTube videos
interesting whats the difference between those 2 zoom options your mentioning?
Jeff H.
Optical zoom is what DSLR uses. Digital zoom is software enhanced and is usually less quality. I always turn off digital zoom on my camcorders.
Optical zoom is what is done by moving the glass elements around and will always be the best quality.
For the price range you gave me this would be a great way to get you started without breaking the bank.
The body alone of a DSLR can be $600 or more without a lens included.
That is why I recommended a camcorder instead for what you are going to do
i am checking to see what this does in terms of video 1080P 30P the max
Jeff H.
This camera actually does 60 frames per second at 1080.
Plus it also has a microphone in Jack so you can add a wireless microphone if you want.
What would a 4K version cost, most likely out of my price bracket but just curious
Jeff H.
Checking let me see if I can search with that parameter to find something
Sadly, the cheapest one with 4K is $800.
def out of my price range
One last question
If you were me, and you were to create a Creation Kit, would other add-ons would you get. Basically my goal, is to shoot, talking head videos, interview someone, shoot video of the project I am working on, kind of like Behind the Scene type of stuff. And Lastly review videos, where I am talking about a certain product but I am showing different angles and detail of the product
Jeff H.
The camera linked will do that very well. I would recommend picking up an external mic that is wireless if needed for better audio one get the camera and start shooting was it.
excellent thank you, i didn't consider this as an option, but this would actually take the stress out while i am learning to shoot content
Jeff H.
I use something very similar when recording video. The focusing is much better using a camera like this than it is a DSLR. It takes a lot of stress out of the equation
And you're very welcome. Was there anything else I can assist you with?
No, i am good. Thanks again
