Did you have some questions about this camera today?
I am looking for birthday gift for my son who is turning 18. He has expressed an interest in photography, though has no experience. I'd like to get him something nice, that is easy to learn and use, and that doesn't cost a fortune.
Courtney B
Ok! Sounds great!
Were you considering a used camera?
The cheapest brand new camera/lens combo that we sell is $339.95. It's a great option.
But if that's too much for you, then yes, I'd recommend going with something used
The Nikon D5100, which is a refurbished, older model, would be a great option if you'd prefer to stick with something "new"
Refurbs are basically set back to brand new standards and packaged like new, so it will be very close to getting a brand new camera
Would that one be within your budget?
great advice. the camera that has been recommended to him by friends who've taken photography classes is the cannon t3i
Courtney B
Ok! That's another great option! It's not being made anymore though, so you'd need to go with a used copy if you want that particular camera
Or you could go with a newer version, such as the Canon T5 which is on sale for $349.95
What are the advantages of the newer version?
Courtney B
The T5 is a bit newer, so the image quality has been slightly improved
It also has a faster startup compared to the T3i
Overall, they're extremely similar. The only used Canon T3i that we have right now is a body alone for $279. You'd need to add a lens to that one, which will cost you at least an extra $50-100.
So in this case, you'd be better off buying the Canon T5 on sale
Ok, that's what I will do. Thank you so much for your help!
Courtney B
You're very welcome!
