Hi! I'm Dan. How are you? I love my d5500 camera and taking photo and video with it.
What questions did you have that I could help with?
Hi Dan,
Hi Dan, I currently have a D600 and several full frame lenses. This is fine equipment, but getting a little heavy to carry everywhere for my 63 year old back. The D5500 caught my eye but am concerned about taking "too many steps backwards" Is this a fairly rugged camera? Also, can it withstand a little exposure to the elements??
Just to be clear, this would be a back up to the D600

I have an easy cover for my d5500 and it had some spills in the republic of panama rain forests..
it is pretty ruggedt with the right protective cover
indeed and understand
the 5500 is a great aps-c camera
though you do have to have the new style dx lenses that have motors in the lenses to accomodate it
as the body does not have a screw af system
It seems like given the same lens, this camera would have a similiar image quality to the D7200. I owned a D7000 and had a great time with it, but the 7200 is just too close in size and weight the D600.
...also, not quite sure what kind of cover you are referring to??
Daniel H.
that is the very cover I have
it doesn't make it water proof.. but water resistant somewhat
..and that makes it relatively weather proof? That's pretty cheap insurance! Thoughts on image quality??
Daniel H.
it helps against bumps and bruises..
really good iso range
high megapixel.. nicest aps-c chipset to date
It's nice to "chat" with someone who owns one. It sounds like you've taken it on some adventures without any issues.

yes
ive really enjoyed using it
