new has a 1 year warranty
I suspect that it's somewhat normal to be a bit hesitant to buy refurbished as it seems like the camera may be more likely to have a problem.

the extended warranties are a great value and they give you that extra peace of mind
you can get an extended warranty that covers drops and spills too, which the NIkon warranty doesn't cover, even on new cameras
So how much would a pretty big memory card cost? Or maybe even 2 of them.

what does the UHS 2 mean?

I believe u3 is the fastest available right now . that is for video recording
the newest 4k cameras need a very fast card
this camera can record in full HD, but not in 4k

for shooting photos, the speed of the card isn't as important
if you use an old card, you might notice a buffer or write time, but most of the cards available now will be great for still photos
so if I don't take may videos I could get cheaper ones?

ok, so I don't know for sure if I want to get a case or not. And if I do I'm unsure whether to buy it now or wait until I get the camera and then find one I know the camera fits in

I see that a review says that you have to put the camera in with the lens up in the Nikon bag. Is that kind of goofy?

I have a couple of the lowepro bags. I like them a lot. The traffic bag looks nice too but I haven't used one

several of the new Nikons were pushed back because the earthquake in Japan seriously impacted a parts supplier
