Hi! I'm Liz! How are you? I see you are interested in Canon can I answer any questions for you?
Hi Elizabeth- I'm a graphic designer and I'm trying to find the right camera and lens combo for photographing portfolio work.
print materials mostly
i was reading about macro lens and how they might be good for shooting details on a printed piece
Elizabeth S.
Yes you definatly want a Macro lens to get the best detail.
Do you have a budget?
I would love to keep to about $500 or so
Elizabeth S.
Ok do you mind used?
no i don't think so
but new would be great :-)
Elizabeth S.
Ok let me see what we have.
Just another moment please :-)
no problem
Elizabeth S.
You need that camera body as well correct?
yes
Elizabeth S.
There is the lens, it is a little over budget but will give you the results you are looking for.
You could get away with the camera and lens that comes with it for a while and add the lens later also.
I was just going to ask does this camera have a macro setting?
Elizabeth S.
It does but you wont get as detailed unless you combined with the lens.
ahhh i see and question about the 75-300 lens
would that be something if I was looking to say shoot a headshot or something but I wanted a super shallow depth of field
would you use something like that
Elizabeth S.
Yes you can use it for that as well :-)
and do you have any recommendations for a basic lighting setup for shooting print work?
i was reading that having some soft boxes would be enough probably just to get the light even.
Elizabeth S.
That is the light I would recommend but for what you are doing you probably won't need it.
yea I'm looking to try and keep it a little down and dirty. just looking for a way to keep the light consistent and even if I were shooting a bunch of print pieces.
Elizabeth S.
I understand one thin I have used in a pinch is one of those medusa lights or a floor lamp that I set and do not move.
Lighting can get pricey.
yea thats great advice. Thanks so much. I really appreciate the help!
this is awesome- I'm going to do some more reading up on these options but this looks exactly like what i was looking for.
Elizabeth S.
Glad to hear it, do you have any other questions now?
nope i think that it
have a good one!
Elizabeth S.
Great! If you have any other questions feel free to chat again. Have an awesome day :-)
