Hi! Welcome to Adorama! How are you today? My name is Anne. How can I help you?
Hi! Are you shopping for a camera today?
yes
Anne A.
great!
how can I help?
I am looking for a camera for dental photography
Anne A.
ok
I need something simple. I am a dental student and I am not a professional photographer
Anne A.
ok
So something hassle free would help me a lot
Anne A.
Most of the dentist I"ve helped use a macro lens and then a macro light system
what price range are you looking at?
one set up that has been suggested is Nikon D series 7000 7100 body and a macro lens and a ring flash
Anne A.
that is what most of the dentists I've helped use
As far as the price goes, the cheaper the better :-)
Anne A.
ok
would you be interested in a refurbished camera?
For the purpose of macro photography, does D7000 and D7100 make a difference?
Anne A.
the D7000 has been known to have some back focusing issues at times.
I'd go for the D7100 if you can
why?
Anne A.
so you don't have to deal with backfocusing
that is when the camera focuses on the background instead of the subject
It can be corrected by fine tuning the camera to match each one of your lenses.
ok,
sorry if my questions are very simple.
Anne A.
no worries!
I'm glad to answer any questions you have :-)
when taking photos, how far away from your patient would you like to be?
half a meter or so
Anne A.
the 40mm macro lens would work well for you
My peers were suggesting me to buy a 105mm
I think I need to ask them more.
Anne A.
that is a very good macro lens
you wouldn't have to be quite as close to your patient with that lens
I would be interested in refurbished as long as it is fully functional and has warranty
Anne A.
Refurbs are good as new
they are like new condition both functionally and cosmetically
I was looking at this one
Does it come with warranty?
Anne A.
yes
90 days from Nikon usa
and you can buy an extended warranty too
if you want a 100mm macro lens, you can save a lot of money by going with the Tokina 100mm for NIkon
it actually tests better than the NIkon lens
really, I did not know that.
Anne A.
Or the Tamorn 90mm is another great, lower cost option.
thank you for the information. I need to look into them.
