Hi there! How are you? I'm James. Do you have any questions about cameras? Or how about questions pertaining to lenses? How can I help you today?
I am looking to upgrade my camera. I currently have a Canon Rebel EOS tii. I would like to use some of lens I currently have. Take mostly family photos/events, outdoor scenery, outdoor still. Biggest challenge is indoor lighting.
James S.
Okay, great. What is your budget?
Flexible - Not more than $3000 - I looked at Canon Mark 5 and found that too heavy. I do NOT need video
James S.
Do you mean the 5D Mark III?
yes
James S.
Awh man, that's the camera I use! haha
That's plenty budget to get the ball rolling though.
What do you have for lenses?
have a wide angel, 250 zoom, and 18 - 80 have had issues (2 repairs with same piece replaced)with that so looking to upgrade/replace
James S.
Okay, do you know what the f/ is on them?
I'm asking because you mentioned an indoor lighting issue.
I think 4.5 or 4.8 don't have them with me
James S.
Okay, lets look at getting you some lens upgrades too. You're always going to have indoor lighting issues at that.
I know, thinking about going to a 2.8 lens
James S.
Okay, great.
played with someones and it seems to capture more accurate indoor lightenin without flash
James S.
Yeah, I use a 1.8 myself.
The 6D might be your best bet. Really good quality and a bit lighter than the 5D.
not familiar with, someone mentioned Mark 7d ii
James S.
It weighs almost the exact same as the 5D
That's why I suggested the 6D :-)
ok - is 6d full frame?
James S.
It is!
Here it is, take a look! :-)
really dont need that lens -
James S.
That's fine, you have the option of getting just the body. I just sent it over so you could take a look at the camera. :-)
what are main differences between this and the Mark 5 or 7?
James S.
Between this and the 5...
This is a 20MP instead of 22. It has a slightly slower frame rate. It can only use SD instead of CF and SD
The 6D however can take about 100 more photos per charge
does it have video?
James S.
Yes it does, it will shoot 1080p/fps
Most cameras shoot HD now
that was my next question. Is there a significant difference in the weight between that and Mark 5? I have had my Rebel for so many years, I am thinking that anything I upgrade to is going to weigh more - is this true?
James S.
The 6D is approx. 24.0 oz. / 680g (Body only)
the Mark 5?
James S.
The 5D Mark III
is
Approx. 30.3 oz./ 860g (Body only)
this is hard. What made you choose the Mark 5?
James S.
The photo quality, in my opinion, is absolutely outstanding.
I wasn't too worried about the weight.
And I actually used it at a professional level.
what is price for body? what 2.8 lens would you recommend if I reconsider the Mark 5
James S.
It's currently $2599.00
is there a bundle price with lens?
James S.
Yeah, but let me check the f/ on that lens.
It's 4/ but the camera itself should be high enough quality to capture the indoor lighting at that.
My recommendation? Pick up the body and a lens separately.
We even have a 35mm f/1.8 on sale right now. I primarily use 35, 50, and 85mm lenses all f/1.8
Of the lens I use, I prefer the 85 - what is price?
James S.
Are you asking for the price of an 85 or the 35?
oops the 35
James S.
Let me pull it up
and the 85 as well please
James S.
Ahh, goodness. It looks like we don't have any left. I'm sorry about that. I know we've got the 50mm f/1.8 for only $125 though
the 85?
James S.
I'm getting to it.
:-)
Best deal we have for an 85 is $329 for an "open box" model.
ok - what is the deal with open box? is it used? was a display model? is warranty same?
James S.
an item can be marked as "Open Box" for many different reasons (i.e., returned without original packaging, writing on the original packaging, or manuals, packaging and items opened and tested) they may not include all accessories, manuals or original packaging. We recommend that you inspect and test the product immediately upon receipt. Open Box items are covered under original manufacturer's warranty.
ok - thanks for all the info. I will take a look at items we talked about and make a decision.
James S.
Awesome.
