I want to get a camera where I can take close ups at my sons graduation as he goes on stage. I also want to save money and take his senior pics. I am no expert and don't know what I am doing but want to learn. I don't know what to buy. I don't need the best as I usually use my phone for pics

I would look at the newer D3300
I would like to stay at less than $300

those all have a great zoom and good image quality
what was wrong with that older model one i was looking at?

the camera you were looking at is for the body only
you would need a lens with that and to get a nice zoom from it, you'll be well over $300
what lens do i need and how much

for general photos you can use the 18-55. it's 116.95
for a zoom lens, we have the 55-300 refurbished lens on sale for 199.95
ok thanks. so if i don't plan on changing the lens i don't need dslr?

you can get an all in one lens too, but they start around 600 for the lens ony

if you want a long zoom, look for that first
