Hi! How are you? I noticed that you were looking at the Nikon D500?
Did you have some questions about this camera today?
looking to buy this camera
Courtney B
but i'm torn between thed500 and the 810 ...
Courtney B
What types of things do you shoot?
beause, I just bought a business, kitchen and bath design showroom / installers... and I need to take pix of completed projecs
but I also want to shoot sports, wildlife etc. (indorrs tennis)
Courtney B
The D500 would be excellent for either of those things
And would do just as well as the D810 for interiors
so the d810, 14-24 is the "gold standard"
Courtney B
It is, but I don't find it necessary for interiors, personally
ok, so you'd like the 500 with maybe the tammron 11-16 f/2.8?
Courtney B
I typically shoot closed down much further than f/2.8 for interiors, so if that's your primary use, you could easily get an f/4 lens for that purpose
right .. i'd need f/8 prob min for DOF..
Courtney B
Exactly. So while the 14-24mm lens is considered the best for that, I really don't think it's necessary by any means
The 11-16mm would be a great interior lens!
but i'd also like to use this rig for travel -- heading to the Caribbean soon... action shots AND tropical landscapes ... lots of hiking
Courtney B
Courtney B
so, talk to me about carry case / bags ...
Courtney B
Were you thinking of a shoulder bag?
bear in mind i've been shootign the old D200 for ... 7 years...35 f/1.8, 70-200, and the 16-200
Courtney B
backpack... AND a carry "hook"
Courtney B
ideally I'd like to have a case that goes inside my 40L backpack... carry the camera on a chest harnes most of the time, and the 35 + 70-200 inside in a padded case (seperate passed case inside a hiking pack)
plus, i've seen a number of rigs to cary the camera close at hand with "quick release / quick access"
Courtney B
Camera bags aren't my expertise, but I'll see what I can find. If I can't find something, you can always contact the store tomorrow to get assistance from a bag expert :-)
some clip to a a chest strap, others to the belt, andi've seen the system that screws into the tripod threads on the bottom of the camera, ad a carry strap... i'm confused
ok, but, you're saying the 500 w/ 11-16 will produce great interior shots.
Courtney B
Courtney B
ok - camera decision is made
Courtney B
Good! I think you'll be really happy with it!
if i order tonight or tomorrow am, will there be a cot to ovrnight to boston area?
Courtney B
Yes, overnight shipping does have a cost.
Courtney B
Actually, the D500 alone (no lens) does include free overnight shipping!
recommendation of an xwd card?
Courtney B
Sorry. A few of those are Sony as well. But equally great :-)
yea, i've got a number of "fast" sd cards, but thinking i'll want the xqd for the faster write speeds
Courtney B
That sounds like a good plan!
so you were saying earlier that the f/2.8 is too fat .. i understand and agree .. any slower 11mm (ish) leses you'd recommed?
Courtney B
Let me take a look at some other options!
please and thank you ... please give me 5 minutes .. i'll brb
Courtney B
The 12-24 f/4 is one great option for quite a bit less than the f/2.8
Courtney B
not positive I do .. would be "nice"
Courtney B
really want a great super wide lens though... no distrtion, etc... these shots will be published.. both on line and some magazines
Courtney B
To be honest, there aren't many super wide angle lenses that have IS, just because it's not considered to be entirely necessary at wider focal lengths
Courtney B
It looks like 16mm is the widest that the IS lenses go
so, as you said, not really needed
Courtney B
/i think the 11-16 is the "best"
Courtney B
Yes, that's a fantastic lens!
Definitely great for interiors once you figure in the 1.5x crop factor of the D500
ok - now i really need those 5 min ... plese hang tight
