It is. it's very sharp and it'll give nice bokeh.
the 17-50 f2.8 is a good lens if you'd rather have some zoom

i think 50 mm is less it should be 70

the 35mm is equivalent to 50mm on a full frame camera

but for portrait i think 100 should be
