Hello, welcome to Adorama how are you today? My name is Jeff, how can I assist you?
I have a D3200, first digital after film. Is the image quality any better in, lets say, a D750, other than the crop factor?
Jeff H.
With a 750 you may have a little better low light performance but you would also need to upgrade lenses at the same time. Something like the 7200 would be an excellent upgrade and still use all your current lenses.
I'm thinking mostly about sharpness, not just the light absorbing
Jeff H.
The 7200 will actually be sharper than the 750 because it does not have the optical low-pass filter which means sharper photos.
I'd have to change my dx lens, but I also have a couple fx lenses
how about the 800e or 810?
Jeff H.
That would be a major upgrade. Personally if I was going that route I would go with the 810.
I like doing milkyway
I heard the 750 was good for that
I'm not a beginner, just didn't want to jump too fast into digital
Jeff H.
Yes all cameras we have talked about will work for that. It really depends on what lens you have attached to how good the photos will be.
so...I'm hearing, stay away from low-pass, and get a full frame sensor, otherwise theyre all the same quality?
not sure if I need more than 24mp
Jeff H.
The 810 will have the best quality due to the 36 megapixel sensor plus it also does not have the optical low-pass filter.
also considering the A7r and rII
Jeff H.
Personally I like Nikon for the high ISO performance for shooting in low light.
better than mirrorless?
Jeff H.
Yes plus if you shoot anything action wise you do not have the rolling shutter problem mirror less has still.
That is why I stick with DSLR for now
ok, any issues with refurbished ones?
Jeff H.
I have not heard of any. I have actually bought refurbished products and are still using them.
cool. I'll watch for a good deal on an 810, thanks
Jeff H.
You're very welcome, was there anything else I can assist you with?
not yet
how about your favorite milkyway lens?
Jeff H.
rokinon 24?
thanks
Jeff H.
I do see there is a used 810 in stock that has a D rating which is the best there is.
Personally I like Nikon primes.
I'll go look for that 810
thanks again
Jeff H.
This would be a good one 20 mm with a 1.8 aperture. Be great for star photography.
you've been a big help
