Courtney B
Hi! How are you? I noticed that you were looking at the Nikon 1 J5?
Did you have some questions about this camera today?
actually for the nikon j3
Courtney B
Ok!
Sure!
is there any way to highspeed sync with it
Courtney B
What questions do you have about it?
I don't believe so, but let me see
It looks like the maximum possible is 1/60 sec
I'm not aware of any way around that. Sorry
that would be for the regualar flash corrct?
Courtney B
Correct. But I don't see a way to use it faster for an off camera flash either
i know i can use a off camera flash with the sb700 in slave mode using the pop up flash on the camera
Courtney B
Ok! But it doesn't look like there's any way to do HSS with the flash
okay lol thank you. hmm... do you think i can use a soft box or will my signal be blocked by it?
Courtney B
You should be able to use a softbox. I've seen that done before
and if i purchased the wu-1 can i use that to remote trigger the shutter
Courtney B
Let me make sure on that
Were you referring to the WU-1a wifi adapter?
yes
Courtney B
Ok
According to Nikon, the Wu-1a is not compatible with the Nikon 1 J3
Oh wait. You would need the WU-1b
That's the correct version
Let me see if we carry it
would i be able to remote trigger with it?
Courtney B
We do! :-) And yes, it would work to remotely trigger the camera through the app
We also have it refurbished
okay. so no hhs but i can use a soft box providing that i dont block the signal and i can remote trigger using the app
Courtney B
Yes, that's correct :-)
okay. is there anything else that i can do with the j3?
Courtney B
Such as...?
hahaha i dont know. im just trying to see my limitations for this camera
Courtney B
Ok! Have you taken a look through the manual? They explain some of the different modes in there, including time lapse, etc
i own the j3 and have been playing with it and just want to know how far i can go with it before getting a new camera body
Courtney B
I see!
Well, there are quite a few lenses available that will help you to use it in a variety of situations
i have and still cant figure out slow shutter speed with other lenses on it like my 70-300 sigma
Courtney B
Ok!
Let me check which page explains that
Are you shooting in manual mode?
i have a few lenses already 50mm 35-70 2.8 etc
Courtney B
Ok!
Great!
yes i do all the time
Courtney B
Ok!
but i cant get it to go lower than 1/3rd dec
sec*
Courtney B
Oh! That might be the slowest it goes. Let me see
should be 30 seconds
Courtney B
Ok
how do i get that slow with other lenses?
Courtney B
The lens shouldn't matter. But I'm checking in the manual to see which page it explains this on
It explains on page 37 of the online manual here http://cdn-10.nikon-cdn.com/p...
Shutter speeds can be set to
values as fast as 1
/16,000 s or as slow as 30 s,
or to “Bulb to hold the shutter open
indefinitely for a long time-exposure
okay thank you. wonder how i do that. i tried on the 4th of july
ill read it and thank you for your help
Courtney B
Hmmm...it does explain in the manual, but if that's what you already did, then I'm not sure what the issue might be
Ok! You're welcome!
Make sure to stop back in chat if you have any further questions, ok?
okay thank you :-)
Courtney B
You're welcome!
