Hi! Welcome to Adorama! How are you today? My name is Anne. How can I help you?
Hi! Are you shopping for a camera today?
hi anne. My grand daughter wants a dslr capable of good video. i suggested a nikon 3300 because she has a 500 dollar budget. what do you think?
Anne A.
that's a great option!
the D3300 will shoot full HD video
are the kit lenses good or should she buy the body and choose another lens, maybe used
Anne A.
the kit lens is a decent lens
For better image quality, the 35mm f1.8G DX lens is better, and very reasonably priced
thanks, any othersuggestions
Anne A.
the d5500 has some improvements for video
as an alternate what do you think of using a sony 6000 or other mirrorless
the 5500 is a budget problem
Anne A.
it is a bit more expensive
isn't the sony down to the $500 range with the introduction of the 6300?
Anne A.
let me check
it is 698.00 with lens right now for the a6000
FYI, I lived in pgh for the first 4 superbowls
Anne A.
Nice!
now in youngstown
Anne A.
Not far away!
OK, another question. I don't know anything about focus peaking. is this something built into cameras?
Anne A.
yes.
It shows you the areas that are in focus so you can adjust and get the shot perfectly in focus
in the 3300/\?
Anne A.
no
but the viewfinder will show you which focus points are locked in
Thanks, you have been very helpful
Anne A.
You're welcome!
have a nice evening
Anne A.
