Hi there! How are you? I'm James. Do you have any questions about cameras? Or how about questions pertaining to lenses? How can I help you today?
Hi, I'm Christine.
James S.
Nice to meet you Christine. :-)
I have a Samsung Galaxy 21x camera now. We are going to Alaska and of course want to take photos of the bears etc. We have been looking the the Lumix FZ200. What do you think?
James S.
Let me pull it up and take a look!
I like to Point and shoot with decent quality pictures.
James S.
What is your budget for a new camera?
$600. Just wondering if the Samsung will work well enough or if we should buy a new camera
James S.
I'm not sure, it really depends on if you think that zoom is great enough.
well, what would be better and somewhat compact in that pricerange
James S.
The Lumix does have a FZ300 that is available.
Oh, what do you think of it?
James S.
I think it's pretty great. I mean, it's got a 25-600mm f/2.8 lens, which is pretty phenomenal.
It's basically a better version of the FZ200.
So same camera lens just more stuff?
James S.
Yeah, there were upgrades to the inner mechanics of the camera to make it take better photos.
So back to the Samsung, how much of a difference in that zoom lens?
James S.
Yours has a 21x correct?
yes
James S.
This equates to about 24x
The lumix is 24?
James S.
Correct.
If you're looking for a bigger zoom, I have some in mind.
This will sound dumb, but will that make a huge difference?
Ok, would love your suggetions
James S.
Not a HUGE difference, no.
Okay.
One moment
The Coolpix P900 has an 83x zoom, which is HUGE.
In my opinion it will also take drastically better photos than your samsung.
(but at 83x zoom, you'll need a tripod to steady the camera).
That is a huge zoom. Well don't want to use a tripod, but photos would be awesome
James S.
I believe it's the biggest zoom on the market. You don't have to use a tripod, but at max zoom there might be some camera shake showing in the photos because it's such an intense zoom.
Maybe something a little less
James S.
Yeah, back off the zoom a bit and you'll be fine. :-)
You don't have to shoot at 83x, you can shoot anywhere between 1 and 83x.
But if you're trying to get a shot of a bear, that extra zoom might come in handy!
What do you think of the Lumix?
James S.
I think it's a pretty decent camera.
Anything in between worth considering?
James S.
In between?
24x and 83x
James S.
The Canon PowerShot SX710 might be the ticket. It's smaller and easier to travel with. It's got a 30x zoom and a better camera sensor.
So it takes sharper images in most situations.
Thank you, you have been really helpful. Just need to decide which one!
James S.
Of course!
Did you have any other questions today? Were you looking at any other products?
No, that was it. Really wanting a new better camera, but not really wanting to spend the money! So want the most bang for our buck!
James S.
Alright, well I hope you enjoy your new camera regardless of which decision you make! In my opinion, I think the SX710 is the best fit for you.
I appreciate your help!
James S.
Thank you for coming in! Take care.
