Spring is the most likely time that it would go on sale, but that didn't happen this year

Otherwise we have this version as well, which is a newer lens. it has an f/5.6 max aperture on the 300mm side, which is an improvement
But it's a lot larger and heavier
What does refurbished really mean, used, with a problem that was resolved by Nikon?
Not always. Sometimes it was returned to a store without all of the packaging
Other times it's overstock, or it may have never passed the inspection at the Nikon factory
So....it's a gamble as to what the issue is?
Well, they don't have an issue anymore. So it's not a gamble :-)
Nikon fully inspects them, repairs them if needed, and cleans them/repackages them back to new condition
