Anne A.
Hi! Welcome to Adorama! How are you today? My name is Anne. How can I help you?
Hi! Are you shopping for a lens today?
Yes, looking at the difference between Nikon 14-24 and 16-35
Anne A.
ok
the 14-24 is f2.8 and the 16-35 is f4
the 14-24 is a bit wider, but the 16-35 has a little more range
what will you be shooting?
typically landscapes
Anne A.
They will both work very well for landscapes
will you be shooting any night scapes?
Yes
Anne A.
the 14-24 is better at night because of the wider aperture
Can you put a filter on the 14-24?
Anne A.
not a typical screw on filter
What is the price on the 18-35
Anne A.
the 16-35 is 996.95
you can use screw on filters with that lens
which lenses have stabilizers
Anne A.
the 16-35 has VRII
the 14-24 doesn't have that
How does the 18-35 compare to the 16-35
Anne A.
that is a nice lens, but the 16-35 is better quality
it's sharper and it has VR, where the 18-35 doesn't have that
DXO Mark actually rates the 18-35 higher
Anne A.
the fixed aperture on the 16-35 is nice if you shoot manual though
you have less changes to the settings as you change zoom
ok, thanks tough to decide! I believe the 14-24 to be a better sense, but without screw on filter capability it does limit long exposure opportunities. The 16-35 seems like a nice compromise but would prefer a F2.8 at least. Hmmmmm . . .
Anne A.
there is a filter option for the 14-24 lens.
Can you send me a link for that ?
Anne A.
getting that now
Tx
Anne A.
That's a little cost prohibitive, since it doesn't even contain a filter
Anne A.
it is more expensive
What does the filter cost
Anne A.
would you want a nd filter? or grad nd?
3 or 6 stop nd
would also be interested in circular polarizer
Anne A.
ok
here's a 3 stop grad nd filterhttp://www.adorama.com/HT165NDG09SE.html
I{"m not showing any circ polarizers for that filter holder
ok
Anne A.
Do you have any more questions? Or is there anything else I can help you with today?
No, thanks. Looks like still have the same options 16-35 with filter options or 14-24 with no reasonable filter options
Anne A.
would you be interested in a compatible brand of lens?
yes, what brands were you thinking? I currently have a Tamron 24-70
Anne A.
tokina has some nice wide angle lenses
this is another f2.8 options, but it can't use filters www.adorama.com/TN1628NKAFKA....
What about the Tamron 15-30?
Anne A.
that is a nice lens too
but it doesn't use filters
ok
Anne A.
Maybe a prime lens would be better because you could get that ultra wide angle and most you can use a filter?
this is a great len http://www.adorama.com/NK2018...
lens
That looks like a good option
Anne A.
It's a great lens, and you can still use filters too
Definitely worth considering
Anne A.
yes! :-)
Thanks, you have added another lens to my options. I don't know if that is good or not. I hope it is good.
Anne A.
lol!! that lens is less expensive too!
Yes, it looks like it will move to top of my choice list.
Anne A.
:-)
