Is it better to use a Canon 70-200 2.8 lens with adapter or a Sony 70-200 2.8 lens on the A7RII?

Hello, welcome to Adorama! My name is Jeff. How can I assist you today?
Will sony fe 70-200 f 2.8 work with sony a7RII
What is weight compared to canon 70-200 f 2.8
Jeff H.
I am checking, it shows it is compatible with E – mount cameras both full frame and APS – C.
Which is better lens? use with adapter on the sony?
Jeff H.
One second and I will check to differences in the weight
The Canon lens weighs 2.9 pounds
canon or sony lens to use with the sony a7RII ... adapter for canon? Faster/better photo, etc.
Jeff H.
The Sony lens weighs 52.21 ounces
That equals 3.2 pounds for the
Sony lens
thanks for the change to both .. so sony is actually heavier than canon?
Jeff H.
That is correct, I would recommend using the Sony lens on a sony camera instead of using an adapter
I have heard the adapter can actually take away quality not much but some
Anything else I can assist you with these products?
which adapter better for this camera using canon 70/200... metabones? or Fotodiox
Jeff H.
I would use the meta-bones personally.
Which one? I see several models listed
Jeff H.
Let me check,
This is the adapter the shows is for Canon lenses to a Sony body.
That was the first one that I saw so I linked it. I am still looking as you say, there are a bunch of them.
That is my concern ... to get the right one
Jeff H.
Actually I was incorrect when I linked the first one. This one is the one that will work with the 70 – 200 EF lens.
I misread the lettering of the other one in that is why I was cheaper. It was not for Canon FX lenses.
My mistake, I am sorry
This is the correct one to use with that lens and camera body.
I have full canon .. 1DX II .. but it is heavy. Have to purchase this new sony .... will the cost be worth it to have Sony? As good or better than using the canon/adapter and possible ext 1.4
Jeff H.
The Sony will be lighter to carry around so it would be worth it to you by that concern alone. I understand what you mean by the weight because I use Nikon DSLR's They can get heavy
Sony's are actually a good camera. A lot of people seem to be moving to them
Worth $3000?
Sony is lens is heavy also. will finished photo be that much bettr?
Jeff H.
That would be up to you. I do not change over to Sony because the investment would not be worth it to me. But that would be a personal decision. We all have to make.
Many thanks ... have to give it some more thought for now. Thank you for all the info.
Jeff H.
Actually I do not think you will see much difference in the quality of the photos. You are already using the best camera Canon has to offer
You're very welcome, was there anything else I can assist you?
Yes, I know the canon is superior
but would like to get similar results with lighter set up
Jeff H.
That is why would be worth it for a lighter camera. You still get really good pictures with the Sony system
That is why it would be up to you if it was worth it Sorry for the typo ;-)
My concern is ... really good pics ... tells me it still will not match the canon
Jeff H.
Truthfully, I have never seen them side by side personally to answer that question. But I do know there are a lot a professional photographers moving to Sony and very happy with the switch.
yes, that is what I am seeing and trying to decide if I should make the full move ... i.e. getting the new lens
Jeff H.
There is a professional photographer who switch to Sony and is producing excellent photos in his videos.
Again, thanks. appreciate your info and thoughts.
Jeff H.
Truthfully I would make the full switch if it was me because adapters tend to take away quality on any system.
You're very welcome. Was there anything else I can assist you with?
Oh, what about the 3.5 18-240 sony ... somethng ike that?
Jeff H.
Let me see what lenses they offer. They keep releasing new ones
that was there last year.
maybe it was a 24-240
Jeff H.
Let me check, I am not up on all Sony lenses available
I know it was a f3.5 not a 2.8
Oh, will I get a faster shutter with the Sony 6000 than the a7RII
Jeff H.
That is the only maga zoom I see listed
I will check the FPS on both cameras to verify
that could be it.
Jeff H.
5 fps on a7rii
Checking the 6000 now
The 6000 has 11 FPS
That sounds better. perhaps this new lens on that camera?
Jeff H.
That would make a good walk around camera. You could always keep your Canon system for serious shooting.
sounds good. Thanks again. have a great day
Jeff H.
You're very welcome, thanks for stopping by and have a great day! Remember if you have any other additional questions, please do not hesitate to come back okay?
absolutely! if you are the one answer!
Jeff H.
