Is the Canon 70-300mm or Canon 100mm 2.8 better for photographing a wedding from a distance?

hey
Daniel H.
Hi! I'm Dan. How are you?
good! u?
Daniel H.
doing great thank you
did you have a camera question I could help with?
it's actually about lenses
i'm trying to find a good lens to take close up pictures with
Daniel H.
okay -- so a macro lens?
yea
Daniel H.
what kind of stuff do you want to take pic of?
i need to record a wedding from a distance
or maybe even take pictures of landscapes from a distance
Daniel H.
okay nice
a good range then
yea
Daniel H.
which canon camera are you using?
lol, the eos rebel lineup
Daniel H.
okay great
did you have a budget range?
we have this 100mm canon
so is 100mm canon lenses good for distant recrding
recordings
Daniel H.
it will focus to infinity yes and has traits of an extended portrait lens at 100mm
ok
so can you tell me the best cheap lenses at 100 mm and the high priced lenses at 100mm
Daniel H.
sure
canon you looked at that I showed you would be on the high end
ok
Daniel H.
we also have tokina
and a Tamron 70-300 macro
okay cool
what other questions did you have today?
would the 75-300 lens better for this job or would the Tokina AT-X 100mm f/2.8 PRO D Macro Lens for Canon EOS Digital and Film Cameras listed on your website be a better choice?
Daniel H.
hmmmm thinking
:-)
Daniel H.
I think I would go for tokina..
due to its wider range apt. f stop
all other things being equal
so would the tokina be good for it's price
Daniel H.
yes -- indeed
and what you get for it
so if i buy the lens hood do i need a filter
?
Daniel H.
well a filter would block out excess sunlight
would you like me to look for one for you?
yes
Daniel H.
okay
that includes a hb-26 hood
actually!
ok
would you recommend the lens i have or the lens you listed before the 70-300mm
Daniel H.
your existing is not a macro though I believe
no it is not
Daniel H.
for close shots the macro would give you the effect you are looking for
what is the difference between zoom lenses and micro lenses
Daniel H.
macro lenses you mean?
macro lenses allow you to focus on things very close to you.. such as bugs or miniatrure models
yea, typo:-)
Daniel H.
small details
hah no worries
so bottom line is that macro lenses are better than zoom lenses?
Daniel H.
well a prime macro lens is different than a zoom lens
but prime do have more focus options
oh ok
Daniel H.
excuse me
so i should go for the Tokina lenses or the lenses you listed above right
Daniel H.
not prime necc. just marco have more focus options
yes the tokina macro or the list
the lens you have won't have focus range you need for macro photog
ok
but which lens is worth the money
Daniel H.
I think the Tokina we looked at is the best value for the money based on what you told me
ok
thank you
have a good day
Daniel H.
okay cool
hope yo uhave a great day as well!
were there any other questions?
thanks
no
