so not quite as much reach on the zoom
What type of photography do you do?
I had a small camera that broke when I went to London a year ago, and I purchased the canon eos 1200d there. I am new to the lens thing really. I liked the point and shoot I had but I love the zoom ability on the eos. So I take pictures of fun. :-) Sunsets, sunrises, nature, people...fun stuff.

Yep, the point and shoot style are nice to grab and go with, but the dSLR you have now really gives you so many more ways to control the image.
Definitely either the Sigma or Tamron here will do what you're wanting for those types of shots
I do love the Sigma brand myself
I just want to be sure I am getting a really great lens for close ups and zoom in on far away shots. I was using a neck strap, it is very uncomfortable on my neck. Do you have a suggestion on a camera strap that won't pull on my neck?

It actually attaches to your tripod mount on the bottom of the camera
so the weight is carried much better
Is this a one shoulder strap?

Does it work better, in your opinion, than a double shoulder strap? One where the camera is held by your shoulders and back?

That does balance the weight more if you have back/neck issues
but I do like the Black Rapid too
Well, I am guessing the one shoulder strap is less cumbersome.
