Hi! Welcome to Adorama! How are you today? My name is Anne. Do you have questions about a camera? Or a lens? How can I help?
Hi Anne, I'm looking for a new camera. I'm just starting out after many years. My last camera was a Pentax 35MM. I'd also like a basic set of lenses to start. I'm looking at the Nikon D5500. I am interested in eventually doing night photography if that helps.
Oh and my name is David

the d5500 is a great choice!
Hi David!
Will you be shooting more in auto or manual?
starting with auto but would eventually like to learn enoughf for manual.
I imagine everyone says that and stays in auto. :-)
Anne A.
not always!
the D5500 would be a great start.
you can shoot in full auto, and it has all the features you'd need to get great night photos too
it has an interval timer built in so you can get great star trail photos :-)
thanks for that confirmation. I see it comes with a kit lens. If you were going to get 1 or 2 other lenses to go with it, what would you suuggest?
Anne A.
for night photography, the tokina 11-16 is a very good lens
and the 35mm f1.8 is good for portraits
it really depends on what you'll be shooting
or refurbished for 159.95
I had the 35mm on my wish list. I will probably also do some outdoor stuff. Maybe a telephoto should be a later item.
Anne A.
the 55-300 is a nice telephoto for the d5500
it's available for 199.95 refurbished
Cool. I'
it's all too tempting:-). Thanks so much. I traded in some really old equipment and once they tell me how to apply the credit, I'll go shopping. Thanks again and have a great day.
Anne A.
did you see we have the d5500 available refrubished?
I did. That's the one Im considering.
Anne A.
it's a great deal!
Thank you! While I have you, do you have any favorite photography books?
Anne A.
I don't really have any, but I've heard that the Rocky Nook books are good
if you get into lighting, Nick Fancher has a very good bood called Studio Anywhere
book
Great. Thanks again. See ya
Anne A.
you're welcome!
