Hi! How are you? I noticed that you were looking at Panasonic mirrorless cameras?
Did you have questions about any in particular?
Courtney....I'm a Professor at Northwestern in Evanston and am looking to buy the panasonic GX85 camera and several compatable lenses for my Birthday which is Sunday. I have several questions:
Courtney B
Ok!
Sure!
Happy (early) birthday!
What questions do you have?
1) How significant are the education discount and would they help me save any money on this purchase 2) Does this camera accept any other type of lenses (I have a sony a6000 and was wondering if I might use some of those lenses3
Courtney B
I don't have details about the education discount in chat. For info on this, you'll need to contact that department directly.
You would need to use an adapter to use your Sony lenses with this camera
And they would not autofocus
3) What lenses should I pick up to take full advantage og the IS feature of the camera...I see panasonic has MEGA , and other type of stabilization for different lenses ....which are the type of lenses that would give me the best results?
Courtney B
What types of focal lengths are you looking for?
If the camera comes with 12-32 lens, I was thinking about a great mid range lens 30 to 150 and then a zoom 100 to 300 and a great fixed macro lens I really like photographing flowers
Courtney B
Ok!
Let me see what we have :-)
With the Panasonic GX85, you can use any micro four thirds mount lens http://www.adorama.com/l/Lens...
For a macro lens, I really like the Olympus 60mm lens
Great ....is that compatible with the PANASONIC Image Stabilization features
Courtney B
No, it does not have stabilization.
In that case, you'd want the Panasonic 30mm macro
This one will take full advantage of the stabilization features
Thank you Courtney, I have to run but I appreciate your help.
Courtney B
Ok! You're welcome!
Make sure to stop back in chat if you have any further questions, ok?
