Hi, welcome to Adorama! My name is Cory. Do you have camera questions? Or how about questions on a lens? How can I help you today?
Hi my name is Amitabha
Cory R.
Hi
I am looking for a wide angle lens
for Nikon mount
Cory R.
Ok. What budget do you want to spend and Full frame or crop?
Basically for D5500 (crop sensor)
Cory R.
Ok, so it can be either type and work. But needs to have the motor
around 500..I should say
Cory R.
Great. Do you mind non nikon brands?
No ..I dont mind ..if the quality is good
Cory R.
Ok great. One more question. Zoom or fixed preference?
Needs motor
Cory R.
Yes, I got the motor need. It's in there
both are fine
Cory R.
Great. Just a moment
It should be good for low light photography and wide angle
I dont like fisheye
Cory R.
Cory R.
what about this ?
Cory R.
Good lens, over your budget a bit and fisheyes
I see.
All right . Thanks for the suggestion
Cory R.
You're welcome. The others are either fish eye, or not auto focus on your camera
I see
Cory R.
Or the light isn't the best. The straight 3.5 is the highest I'd suggest, On the one sigma, I like the other one better
Which one ? The Tokina ?
Cory R.
The Tokina 2.8 yes. The ATX lens is a great one, use it on my backup all the time when I'm trying to do landscapes light and quick
Ohh ..nice
In a simple word , what's the difference in aparture 3.5 and 2.8 ?
Technically ?
Cory R.
2 stops of light, faster speed,
Large aperture means more light ?
Cory R.
Yes
Better in dimmer lighting
f/3.5 and f/2.8 - can you expand the difference a little more ?
So why do you prefer the Tokina more than the Sigma ?
Is it more sharp ?
Cory R.
I like the tokina as I haven't had to send them in, Sigma has had focus issues that require replacements
I see
I purchased sigma 70-300 and Nikon 70-300 from Adorama . Least expensive ones. Not happy with them. I will return them. Do you have any suggestion for a medium price range telephoto lens ?
Cory R.
I bought Tamron's 70-300mm that was $176. I love it
Ok. I think I need to learn how to use them .
Cory R.
They take awhile. The Tamron one works on all Nikons, unlike the Nikon one you bought, which would have been manual for you
right
So, the Sigma one has motor. Is it little inferior in quality than the Tamron ?
Cory R.
For it's focus issues, I've heard so.
I see.
All right. Thanks very much.
Cory R.
You're welcome.
have a great evening
Cory R.
You as well
