Courtney B
Hi! How are you? I noticed that you were looking at the Nikon D7200?
Did you have some questions about this camera today?
yes
Courtney B
Ok, great!
What questions do you have?
so I have been wanting a good camera for years and its time
Courtney B
Ok, great!
i am going to Yosemite in a few weeks so need something nice.
Courtney B
Ok!
The D7200 would definitely fit that description
yeah i was between the 7100 and 7200
Courtney B
Ok!
Do you plan to shoot a lot of quick action?
yeah my daughter does colorguard indoors and my point and shoot Nikon just doesn't cut it.
Courtney B
Ok!
The main upgrade to the D7200 was the speed
So it sounds like that would be a worthwhile upgrade for you
so i need both wide andgle for outdoor and speed indoor low light.
Courtney B
Ok!
i am on the fence on lens
Courtney B
Alright! What's your budget for the lens(es)?
so a lot of kits have the 18-55 then a 55-200 or 55-300 VR of course
i saw good reviews on the 18-300 VR11
Courtney B
Yes!
That's a fantastic lens!
it would be a little more but then i don't need to switch lenses.
Courtney B
And then you don't need to worry about switching them all of the time
Exactly :-)
just worried a little on the light the f stop is 6.5 i think. There is a VR1 which is 5.6 but its 300 more so don't think that's too big a deal.
They both are supposed tobe great lenses for a avg joe
Courtney B
They absolutely are great lenses for the average photographer!
Plus the VR helps with the low light
yeah the stabilization.
Courtney B
:-)
It's great for indoor shooting!
i have a cool pix that was pretty pricey and graduation pics i couldn't zoom and the indoor stuff is crappy
Courtney B
Yes, that's a common downfall of point and shoot cameras
its a few year old the one Kutcher used to advertise so pretty disappointed in how it performs actually.
Courtney B
Sorry to hear that
and i know its because of the speed and stabilization
Courtney B
Point and shoot cameras are definitely getting better in low light, but they're still typically better at the wide angle end
yes
Courtney B
The great thing about a DSLR is that you can always pick up additional lenses to suit your needs
There are some really great lenses for low light that are cheap. But they're primes (non zoom), so it won't always fit every situation
so i was looking at the 7200 bundle with case and spare battery but no option to add that lens
Courtney B
Let me see
this site was recommended by Ken Rockwell been researching there for a while
Courtney B
Yes, unfortunately they don't have any bundles set up with that lens right now
yeah i need to get it soon as i am leaving in like 3 weeks.
Courtney B
Ok!
If you order before 8pm ET, it ships the same day
So that shouldn't be a problem at all
do you know if the 7200 has a built in flash or do you have to buy?
Courtney B
It has a built-in flash
and the bundle i am looking at has a spare battery ?
Courtney B
Yes, it does
It includes 2 batteries total
even has some software that great
Courtney B
Yes, it does
The software is nice for brief editing and organization
the 18-330 should be good in low light like a gym zoomed in?
Courtney B
It will be adequate. Not as good as something like a 70-200mm f/2.8 lens, but it will do the job :-)
Ive wanted a good camera for like 10 years never had the cash
have a old AE1 used to do slides and my own developing so looking forward to getting back into it.
a lot has changed in 20+ years
Courtney B
Absolutely!
You'd be getting a really solid camera with the D7200
so that's a good point. is it better to get a 18-140 then a good 70-200?
with lower fstop?
Courtney B
If you'll be doing a lot of indoor gym shooting, then yes. I do think that would be a wiser investment
hmmm
Courtney B
But it will also be a more expensive investment
yikes 1800!
Courtney B
Yep
But Sigma has a more cost effective option for $1149
Or the Nikon 80-200mm f/2.8 is another option
so to get 18-300 in a 700-800 price range either with 1 lens or two i wont get under like 5.6 on the tele
Courtney B
Yes
its been a while since i have looked at this stuff. the lower f stops the more expensive.
Courtney B
Exactly! That's usually the way that it goes!
The wider angle and telephoto lenses tend to be more expensive as well
so for my budget i thing the 18-300 is best bet correct?
Courtney B
I would agree with that
It's a solid lens and is going to give you a lot of versatility.
yep. last question is about filters what should i get or just get the lens with kit?
Courtney B
I would recommend the lens with the kit. It comes with a nice UV filter, which is the one that I'd recommend for general protection
great. Ill give the customer service a shout and see if i can get a bundle going. Appreciate the hel it cleared things up
Courtney B
Ok! That sounds great! I hope they have some good news for you :-)
i feel a lot better on the lens
Courtney B
I'm glad I was able to help :-)
Make sure to stop back in chat if you have any further questions, ok?
sure
Courtney B
Great!
Have a great day!
yep
